Playlab is a nonprofit platform that offers both free and paid plans. MMUUSD teachers can access the free plan by registering for a one-hour onboarding session on the website or by contacting shaun.langevin@mmuusd.org.

Notable Use Cases

•  Build chatbots for your own use or for students. You can customize them with background information, instructions, and a specific purpose to align with your lesson goals.

•  Select from multiple AI models (like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude) and adjust settings for each to match your needs.

•  Similar to SchoolAI, you can review student conversations with chatbots. This allows you to track understanding, identify common questions, and support individual students. SchoolAI will flag concerns, Playlab currently doesn't.

•  Use Playlab to brainstorm lesson ideas, create practice activities, or experiment with interactive chatbot-based assignments.

•  Because you can switch between models, Playlab can help you compare how different AI tools handle the same task or prompt.

Concerns

• While student chats can be monitored, Playlab does not yet automatically flag inappropriate or concerning content, but this feature is in development.

• Like all AI tools, it may generate biased or inaccurate responses. Teacher review of AI outputs and careful oversight of student interactions is essential.
