Notable Features

• Gems (Custom Chatbots) to work with students in more controlled ways (Current recommendation is to use SchoolAI or PlayLab for this purpose, as these chats can be supervised). 

  • Teachers can create custom AI assistants for their lessons, assigning them specific roles and instructing them to guide students with questions rather than direct answers. A dashboard then allows educators to review these conversations to check for understanding and see where students might need support.

• AI-voiced podcasts, ("audio overviews," teachers only)

• Storybook Gem - Teachers can ask for books about any subject, reading level, and other criteria. This is useful for creating readings based on student interests for subjects that are hard to find physical books for.

Concerns

• AI learns from internet data that contains human biases, so it may present biased or inaccurate information as fact.

• Student interactions in Gems cannot be monitored by teachers. Only technology admin can check on this. Because of this, it is recommended to use SchoolAI or PlayLab for fully supervised AI interaction.

• Storybook Gem - Illustrations may not be consistent.  You will need to check the book level. Nothing beats a physical book if possible.
